Approaches and Theories

Skosh Jacobsen listens while the newcomer describes what their ideas are about their concern.  Developing safety and trust are essential to achieving any kind of progress in counseling.  Skosh uses a variety of approaches, including but not limited to: family of origin exploration, cognitive restructuring, journaling, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), role-playing, guided imagery, and teaching skills.

Skosh draws from Adlerian and Family Systems Theories; as well as Attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Experiential, and Existential theories.
